A Yorkshire institution
Bettys Café Tea Rooms have been a Yorkshire institution for almost a century. They’re home to the quintessential afternoon tea, and famous for their traditional sweet treats and savoury morsels. They also run a cookery school from their Harrogate HQ, where budding chefs and baking enthusiasts learn a range of skills and techniques, covering everything from classic baking to four-course meals.
Bettys teamed up with another Northern baking legend: Nancy Birtwhistle, winner of last year’s Great British Bake Off. Bettys invited Nancy to the cookery school to demonstrate some of the techniques that bagged her the prestigious baking accolade. Bettys asked us to create a promotional film of the day to promote their cookery school. Yep, it's a tough job, but somebody had to do it.
Using a mix of long, smooth tracking shots and extreme close-ups, we caught Nancy's attention to detail and the devotion of her disciples in the audience. We added in snippets of interviews with the attendees and gave the film that soft-focus, dreamy look that's synonymous with The Great British Bake Off.
After being uploaded to Bettys’ social media channels and emailed to their customer database, the film received more than 238,000 views, increasing the number of referrals to their website by more than 1000%. Watch it for yourself below.
It's turned out to be the start of a long and beautiful friendship with Bettys. Excellent news, and not just because we love cake.
