A Big Lunch for Halifax bank

fun in the sun

Made in Eden

The Big Lunch was created by The Eden Project in 2009. The idea is simple: get as many people as possible across the whole of the UK to have lunch with their neighbours to promote community, friendship and fun. It happens on the first Sunday of every June, and almost five million people took part in 2014.

Made possible by Halifax bank

As an official partner to the event, branches of Halifax bank organised Big Lunches around the country, with more than 2,500 employees volunteering their time. Halifax asked us to create a film celebrating this unique day.

Halifax invited us along to a particularly large event in Swindon, so we took along our friend Michael Underwood to do a spot of compering. Mother Nature did everyone a favour and brought plenty of blue skies, and our Producer Steve came back with the best (worst?) sunburn you've ever seen.

Along with the action from the day, we incorporated footage from around the country and delivered a short film in super fast time. The film - you can watch it here - helped cement Halifax's reputation as a bank at the heart of the community.

Those Big Lunches organised by Halifax alone raised more than £100,000 for charities across the UK.
